Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump engaged in a phone conversation addressing the recent developments in the Middle East, particularly focusing on the escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, as well as the Iranian nuclear issue and prospects for a settlement in Ukraine. This information was shared by Yuri Ushakov, an aide to the Russian President, who briefed the press on the discussions.
According to Qatar News Agency, Ushakov revealed that during the call, President Putin condemned the Israeli military actions against Iran and reiterated Russia's willingness to mediate between the conflicting parties in an effort to de-escalate tensions in the region. He emphasized the importance of returning to dialogue to prevent further conflicts.
In relation to Iran's nuclear program, President Putin highlighted Moscow's previous proposals aimed at achieving a balanced agreement between Tehran and Washington. He expressed that if there is political will, resuming negotiations remains a possibility.
Furthermore, President Putin affirmed Russia's preparedness to continue negotiations with Ukraine after June 22, stressing Moscow's dedication to diplomatic resolutions for conflict resolution.
US President Trump, as reported by Ushakov, expressed significant concern over the increasing tensions between Israel and Iran, characterizing the situation as "very alarming." He also indicated the United States' willingness to engage in further dialogue concerning the Iranian nuclear issue, in collaboration with international partners.
