Post: Russian Defense Ministry Announces Interception of 726 Ukrainian Drones

Russia: Russia's Defense Ministry said today that its air defense systems intercepted 726 Ukrainian drones overnight in Russian airspace and over the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.

According to Qatar News Agency, the ministry stated that the interceptions occurred across multiple regions, including Astrakhan, Belgorod, Bryansk, Volgograd, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Oryol, Rostov, Ryazan, Samara, Saratov, Tambov, Tula, Ulyanovsk, and the Moscow region. The areas of Krasnodar Krai, Crimea, and the Republic of Tatarstan, along with the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea, were also mentioned as sites of interception.

The ministry highlighted the ongoing daily attacks by Ukrainian forces targeting residential zones, essential civilian infrastructure, industrial sites, and energy facilities in Russian border areas and further inside the country using drones and missiles.

Additionally, the ministry confirmed that Russian forces targeted a Flamingo cruise missile component factory, along with other military industrial sites, logistics centers, and warehouses in Kyiv and its surrounding areas in a retaliatory move for the attacks on Russian territory.

Both sides in the conflict have increasingly utilized drones in recent months, signaling a shift in military tactics to minimize casualties. This development comes as the war enters its fourth year, affecting global trade in critical commodities such as oil, grain, and vegetable oils.
