MOSCOW: The Russian Defense Ministry announced Wednesday that its air defense systems successfully intercepted and shot down 19 Ukrainian drones over several Russian provinces, marking another instance of aerial confrontations amid the ongoing conflict.
According to Qatar News Agency, the ministry detailed that 10 of the drones were downed over the province of Belgorod, with an additional three intercepted over Kursk. Two drones each were shot down in the provinces of Bryansk, Rostov, and Voronezh, illustrating the widespread nature of the aerial defense measures employed by Russia.
The Russian Defense Ministry has been providing regular updates on its military operations and defensive actions as part of the broader conflict with Ukraine, which began in February 2022. These announcements often highlight advancements in eastern Ukraine, including the control of strategic areas and towns, alongside the downing of Ukrainian drones. However, the ongoing war has resulted in conflicting reports about the actual situation on the ground, complicating the understanding of developments in the region.
