Russian Drones Target Foreign Ships in Black Sea, Says Ukraine

Ukraine: Ukraine announced today that Russian drones attacked three foreign-flagged commercial vessels sailing in the Ukrainian export corridor in the Black Sea last night.

According to Qatar News Agency, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Kuleba stated via Telegram that the attacks caused fires on board the ships, but the crews were able to control and extinguish them.

The Ukrainian Maritime Ports Authority clarified that the targeted vessels were flying the flags of Vanuatu, the Comoros, and Panama.

Earlier, the Ukrainian Navy reported that a Russian drone strike targeted a Turkish-owned cargo ship flying the Vanuatu flag, which was en route from a port in the Odessa region to Turkey.

The Navy added that the attack resulted in a fire on board the ship and injured two crew members, who were evacuated. The ship was carrying cargo.

Since the outbreak of the war more than four years ago, Russia has continued to target Ukrainian maritime export routes including ports and vital infrastructure linked to foreign trade and the Ukrainian economy.
