Tianjin: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov expressed his country's desire for clarification with regard to US President Donald Trump's intentions behind allocating 50 days to reach a settlement on Ukraine. During a press conference that followed the meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states' foreign ministers in China's Tianjin, Lavrov said: "Certainly, we would like to understand what is behind this statement about 50 days. Earlier, there were also the deadlines of 24 hours and of 100 days, we've seen it all and really would like to understand the motivation of the US president."
According to Qatar News Agency, Lavrov pointed out that Trump is under enormous pressure put on him by the European Union in order for him to flood Ukraine with weapons, adding that Washington is well-aware of Moscow's stance on Ukraine from the Istanbul talks.
In response to President Trump's threats to impose a 100 percent tariff on Russia and its trade partners, Lavrov said that it is unlikely that his country's trade partners will abandon their commitments.
