New York:United Nations: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced Moscow's willingness to engage in negotiations for a long-term and sustainable resolution to the conflict in Ukraine. However, he emphasized that Russia will not cease its military operations during these discussions.
According to Qatar News Agency, Lavrov made these remarks during a United Nations Security Council meeting focused on Ukraine. He reiterated President Vladimir Putin's stance on the issue, highlighting that European countries are advocating for a pause in military operations to allow time for the Ukrainian forces to replenish their weapons supplies, which Lavrov claims are depleted.
Lavrov also mentioned the involvement of the United States in seeking a settlement for the ongoing conflict. He noted that US envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner confirmed America's interest in facilitating peace during their recent visit to Moscow.
Furthermore, Lavrov criticized the ongoing financial and military support that the European Union provides to Ukraine.
