Second Edition of Doha Photography Festival Concludes with International Acclaim

Doha: The second edition of the Doha Photography Festival, organized by the Qatar Photography Center at the Ministry of Culture, concluded Sunday evening. The six-day festival, held opposite Darb Al Saai in the Umm Salal area, featured a variety of activities and events.

According to Qatar News Agency, Director of the Qatar Photography Center, Jassim Ahmed Al Buainain, stated that the festival was a resounding success, providing an excellent opportunity for photographers and the public to enjoy diverse exhibitions. These exhibitions explored a wide range of themes, topics, and perspectives, reflecting the Ministry of Culture's commitment to promoting photographic heritage and culture. The festival highlighted the importance of photography as a means of expressing Qatari identity and showcasing its beauty and rich heritage.

The event aimed to strengthen local photographic art and underscore photography as a tool for documentation and expression. Al Buainain noted the significant turnout for specialized workshops presented by international photographers, as well as lectures and panel discussions, emphasizing their popularity and wide-ranging benefit to the public.

He also highlighted the considerable impact of the Doha Photography Award, which served as a strong incentive for photographers, alongside successful children's events that drew many families. The Director expressed his delight at the large international audience, including photographers from GCC countries and other Arab nations, who visited the festival to benefit from its rich program.

It witnessed substantial turnout from photographers both locally and internationally, with the participation of eight leading international camera companies, further solidifying its position as a leading platform for photographic art in the region.
