DOHA: The Shura Council convened its regular weekly session at the Tamim bin Hamad Hall under the leadership of HE Speaker Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, strongly condemning recent actions by Israeli forces in Gaza and Jerusalem.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Council began the session by expressing vehement condemnation of the Israeli occupation forces’ burning of Kamal Adwan Hospital in the Gaza Strip. The Council labeled the incident as a war crime and a crime against humanity, citing it as a flagrant breach of international laws designed to safeguard civilians and healthcare facilities. The Council underscored the potential for such actions to exacerbate the already dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza and held the occupation authorities fully accountable for the escalating tensions threatening regional security and stability.
The Shura Council also criticized the intrusion of the Israeli Minister of National Security into Al-Aqsa Mosque, describing it as a severe violation of the sanctity of holy sites and an affront to Muslims globally. The Council urged international parliamentary bodies and organizations to exert pressure on the occupation authorities to halt these violations and to take decisive steps to protect the historical and legal status of Al-Aqsa Mosque. The Council called for efforts towards justice, comprehensive peace, and respect for Palestinian rights.
Following these discussions, HE Shura Council Secretary-General Nayef bin Mohammed Al Mahmoud presented the meeting agenda, leading to the approval of the previous session’s minutes. The Council then moved to approve a draft law regarding the regulation of travel and cargo offices, which was subsequently forwarded to the government after a review by the Health, Public Services and Environment Affairs Committee.
Additionally, the Council examined a draft law concerning the extension of the Qatar Ports Management Company’s concession, referring it to the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee for further analysis.
The session concluded with a review of reports detailing the participation of the Council’s delegations in various regional and international parliamentary events.
