Cairo: The Shura Council participated in the meeting of the Special Committee to Amend the Charter of the Arab Parliamentary Union (APU), which was held in Cairo. The Council was represented in the meeting by HE Dr. Sultan bin Hassan Al Dosari, a member of the Shura Council and the APU Executive Committee.
According to Qatar News Agency, participants in the meeting discussed amending the APU charter and establishing a permanent headquarters. The committee decided to prepare a report detailing its views on these issues, which will be circulated to Arab councils and parliaments for their input.
During its 36th session, the APU Executive Committee recommended forming a special committee to handle the charter amendment and the selection of a permanent headquarters for the Union.
