Hanoi: The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has announced the temporary suspension of flight operations at six airports starting Thursday afternoon as Typhoon Kalmaegi rapidly approaches the central region for an anticipated evening landfall. Flight operations will be halted at Buon Ma Thuot, Chu Lai, Lien Khuong, Pleiku, Phu Cat, and Tuy Hoa airports due to the immediate threat of the storm.
According to Qatar News Agency, the country's National Hydrological Forecasting Center said in a statement that the typhoon is expected to make landfall in the early hours of tomorrow, along the coast from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak. The center predicted that the typhoon will bring heavy rainfall to several areas, with the potential for flash floods in rivers and streams, landslides on slopes, and flooding in low-lying and urban areas.
