Doha: HE President of the Federal Republic of Somalia Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud emphasized the dangers of remaining silent in the face of Israel's ongoing violations, which he warned could undermine the core principles of international law.
According to Qatar News Agency, during his address at the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha, President Mohamud urged the international community, with a specific call to the Security Council, to uphold their duty in ensuring global peace and security. He condemned the Israeli attack on Doha on September 9 as a severe infringement on international norms, Qatari sovereignty, and the country's territorial sanctity.
The Somali President reiterated his nation's steadfast solidarity with Qatar, highlighting any breach of a nation's sovereignty and loss of innocent lives as violations of international law, particularly the United Nations Charter. He called for the UN Security Council to act decisively, warning that inaction could set a perilous precedent threatening international law.
President Mohamud criticized the Israeli escalation, emphasizing the need for diplomacy, dialogue, and peaceful resolutions in turbulent times. He lauded Qatar's crucial role in promoting peace and stability, especially amidst the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and called for international support for Qatar's efforts over any undermining actions.
He further expressed deep concern over the devastation in Gaza, advocating for an immediate ceasefire, the release of hostages, and unrestricted humanitarian aid, all in accordance with international law and legitimacy.
