Post: Somali Prime Minister, UN Official Discuss Bolstering Bilateral Cooperation

Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre discussed avenues for cooperation between Somalia and the UN, particularly in security and technical fields, with the UN Under-Secretary-General for Operational Support, Atul Khare, in Mogadishu today. Both sides talked about supporting the Somali army's plan to take over security operations in Somalia from the AU forces and preparing for the new mission. A few days ago, the Somali army announced that it had received a military base from the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) in the Lower Juba region, as part of the third phase of the reduction of African forces in Somalia.
