Seoul: South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol rejected today the resignation of Army Chief Park An-su following the announcement of martial law, which was later lifted. The presidential office in Seoul, According to Qatar News Agency,stated that President Yoon urged Park to continue his duties, highlighting the importance of military leadership given the current security situation. Earlier today, the prosecution banned former Minister of Defense Kim Yong-Hyun from leaving the country as they investigate charges of treason related to the failed martial law declaration earlier this week. In a related move, South Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent messages to foreign diplomatic missions, confirming that martial law had been lifted in accordance with democratic processes, while ensuring public safety, order, and the country's economic stability. Park had earlier rendered his resignation during an emergency session of the parliamentary defense committee to former Minister of Defense Kim Yong-Hyun, citing t he South Korean president's sudden declaration of emergency martial.
