Spain to Regularize Status of 500,000 Irregular Migrants

Madrid: The Spanish government has announced plans to regularize the status of undocumented migrants, potentially benefiting up to 500,000 individuals, as stated by Spanish government spokesperson and Minister of Social Security, Elma Saiz.

According to Qatar News Agency, the initiative aims to strengthen the Spanish economy by allowing these individuals, who have lived in Spain for at least five months and arrived before December 31, 2025, to obtain legal status. This change will enable them to work in any sector and location across the country.

Spain, along with other European nations bordering the Mediterranean, is experiencing an influx of irregular migrants, predominantly from Africa.
