A recent scientific study has revealed that the human brain undergoes extensive biological changes as it ages-changes that become noticeable in middle age and may contribute to an increased risk of alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative disorders. :hanges that become noticeable in middle age and may contribute to an increased risk of Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative disorders.
According to Qatar News Agency, the study published in Science Journal involved US researchers who analyzed cells from the brain's hippocampus. They found that the most significant changes occur between the ages of 50 and 75, including a decline in certain immune cells, the emergence of cells exhibiting inflammation-related characteristics, genomic dysregulation, and a deterioration of cells that maintain the blood-brain barrier.
The findings showed marked changes in microglia-key immune cells in the brain-alongside increased markers of inflammatory activity. This may be linked to the chronic inflammation associated with brain aging. Researchers believe these findings could help elucidate the mechanisms of brain aging and the diseases associated with it.
