Doha: The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs thursday welcomed the findings of the report of the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Syrian Coastal Incidents of last March, affirming its full cooperation with the Commission, facilitating its mission, and its commitment to uncovering the facts and ensuring accountability.
According to Qatar News Agency, in an official statement, the Ministry expressed its appreciation for the report's contents, affirming the government's commitment to its reform measures and efforts to protect citizens and strengthen the rule of law.
Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al Shibani expressed his thanks to the Chairman of the International Commission of Inquiry on Syria, Paolo Sergio Pinheiro, for his efforts in preparing the Commission's latest report on the coastal incidents, which is consistent with the report of the Independent National Commission of Inquiry.
Al Shibani emphasized Syria's commitment to incorporating the recommendations of the International Commission of Inquiry into the process of building institutions and consolidating the rule of law in the new Syria.
The Syrian Foreign Minister welcomed the continued cooperation over the past months between the International Commission of Inquiry and the Independent National Commission in Syria, stressing that this cooperation has enabled the National Commission to benefit from international expertise in its mission.
He commended the report's recognition of the positive measures taken by the Syrian government at the highest levels, as well as its initiatives to halt violations and restore calm. These initiatives reflect the Syrian government's commitment and responsibility to protect all citizens and safeguard their safety.
