Post: Tour Bus Overturns in Swiss Alps Resulting in Multiple Fatalities and Injuries

Doha: Several people were killed and others injured after a tour bus carrying 48 Dutch passengers overturned in the Alpine region of eastern Switzerland, according to local police. The accident took place on the road between the villages of Susch and Zernez in the canton of Graubunden. Authorities are yet to confirm the exact number of fatalities and injuries resulting from the incident.

According to Qatar News Agency, the bus struck a roadside barrier before overturning, with initial reports indicating no involvement of another vehicle in the accident. The accident has prompted a significant response from Swiss authorities, deploying numerous rescue teams and ambulances, in addition to five helicopters, to the scene.

A spokeswoman for the Dutch association of travel agents and tour operators stated that around 48 Dutch passengers were aboard the bus, operated by tour company OAD. However, she was unable to confirm the number of casualties at this time. Swiss authorities continue to investigate the cause of the accident as rescue operations and casualty assessments are underway.
