Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, discussed bilateral relations and the latest developments in the crisis between Moscow and Kyiv in a phone call today.
According to Qatar News Agency, during the call, Erdogan stressed his country's continued efforts to ensure a just and lasting peace between Ukraine and Russia, affirming Ankara's support for continuing the talks that began in Istanbul between the two countries' delegations mid of this month.
He also expressed his satisfaction with the rapid implementation of the prisoner exchange agreement between Russia and Ukraine reached during the previous round of talks, noting the importance of discussing the possibility of a ceasefire in the second round of negotiations next week in Istanbul to pave the way for lasting peace.
The Turkish President highlighted the importance of holding direct meetings between the leaders of the two countries, saying such a step would further strengthen the peace process and should not be delayed.
