Two Syrian Soldiers Killed, Others Injured While Clearing Mines in Idlib Countryside

Idlib: The Syrian defense ministry reported that two soldiers were killed and several others injured on Saturday while transporting dismantled mines and unexploded ordnance in the al-Habit area of southern Idlib countryside. The incident underscores the ongoing dangers faced by military personnel in areas littered with remnants of conflict.

According to Qatar News Agency, the incident occurred as military engineering units were carrying out their duties to transport mines and unexploded remnants of war after dismantling them. The task is part of a broader effort to clear the region of explosive hazards that continue to pose risks to both military personnel and civilians.

On Friday, a separate incident highlighted the persistent threat of landmines in the area when three children were killed and two others injured by a landmine explosion inside an unusable school in the same town. These tragedies underscore the urgent need for continued mine-clearing efforts in war-affected regions to prevent further loss of life and injury.
