Doha:The University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) has achieved international accreditation for six academic programs at its Colleges of Computing and Information Technology, and Engineering and Technology, granted by the US-based Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
According to Qatar News Agency, these programs earned accreditation following a comprehensive review by three ABET commissions. The evaluation focused on quality standards that cover curricula, faculty, student learning outcomes, facilities, and continuous improvement.
The accredited programs include a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems, a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering - Processing Engineering, a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering - Telecommunications and Network Engineering, a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering - Maintenance Engineering, and a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology.
UDST President Dr. Salem bin Nasser Al Naemi commented that this accreditation serves as an internationally recognized benchmark for the quality of education provided by the university in computing, engineering, and engineering technology. It also underscores the relevance of this education to the needs of the labor market.
As Qatar progresses toward establishing a knowledge-based economy in alignment with its National Vision 2030, Dr. Al Naemi emphasized the importance of equipping graduates with the technological and professional skills required in the labor market. The accreditation highlights the quality of UDST's academic and applied education, as well as its dedication to preparing graduates with the necessary knowledge and skills for professional practice, addressing the evolving demands of the labor market in these fields.
Both the College of Computing and Information Technology and the College of Engineering and Technology focus on applied learning and hands-on training through curricula designed to meet industry needs.
