Gaza: The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) reported that at least seven newborns in the Gaza Strip have died from hypothermia due to cold weather and a lack of adequate shelter, amidst the ongoing conflict and devastation in the region.
According to Qatar News Agency, UNRWA highlighted that the harsh conditions are contributing to these tragic deaths, with an estimated 7,700 newborns in Gaza currently lacking vital care. The agency’s statement emphasized the urgent need for shelter and warmth for these vulnerable infants, revealing that at least seven babies have reportedly succumbed to these harsh conditions.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has condemned a recent raid by Israeli occupation forces that resulted in the Kamal Adwan Hospital being put out of service. WHO demanded the release of the hospital’s director, Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, pointing out that this medical facility has been targeted at least 50 times since October 2024, severely impacting healthcare availability in the area.
Displaced individuals in Gaza are living in makeshift tents constructed from cloth and nylon, facing severe humanitarian challenges. The scarcity of essential supplies such as food, water, clothing, blankets, and heating devices during the winter months exacerbates their plight, making survival increasingly difficult.
