UNRWA Warns of Imminent Humanitarian Disaster in Gaza as Essential Supplies Running Out

Gaza: The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) warned of the worsening humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, calling on the international community to take immediate action to prevent the collapse of living conditions in the besieged enclave.

According to Qatar News Agency, "All basic supplies are running out in Gaza. It means babies, children are going to bed hungry", the agency's director of communications, Juliette Touma, confirmed in a statement.

Touma noted that the six-week-old Israeli blockade, which prevents the entry of aid and commercial supplies, has led to the disappearance of food stocks, the closure of bakeries, and the alarming spread of hunger among the population.

The UN official stressed that an urgent international response has become an urgent necessity, warning that the continuation of the current situation threatens the lives of millions inside the Strip.

Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli occupation forces have launched an aggression on the Gaza Strip, resulting in the martyrdom of 50,933 Palestinians, the majority of whom were children and women, and the injury of 116,450 others. This is a preliminary toll, with a number of victims still buried under the rubble and on the streets, unable to be reached by ambulances and rescue teams.
