Tokyo: The US dollar remained steady on Tuesday, as hopes for a resolution between the US and Iran appeared to diminish, affecting global financial markets. Meanwhile, the yen stabilized following a notable decline in the previous session, which was influenced by a joint US-Japan intervention that did not yield a sustained impact. In contrast, the Australian dollar reached an eight-week high in anticipation of a policy decision from Australia's central bank.
According to Qatar News Agency, the yen climbed to 158.93 per US dollar during Asian trading hours. However, this is still below the three-month high of 155.20 experienced last week, which was prompted by a rare yen-buying intervention by the US and Japan at the end of July. Investors are now focusing on the Reserve Bank of Australia's (RBA) upcoming policy decision, where it is anticipated that the RBA will maintain its current policy rate. The Australian dollar stood at $0.7057 as this expectation influenced the market.
In other currency movements, the euro traded at $1.1544, while the British pound was valued at $1.3509 during Asian market hours. These currency valuations reflect ongoing global economic conditions and the impact of geopolitical developments on financial markets.
