With participation of Syria, Dubai Open Chess Tournament kicks off

With participation of Syria’s Chess team, the 23rd edition of the Dubai Open Chess Tournament kicks off on Saturday and will last till June 4.

A number of male and female players representing 47 countries were divided into two categories according to the international classification of players.

The tournament will be divided into two categories: The Masters category for players with an international rating above 2200 and the Open category for players rated below 2200.

‘The tournament system makes the competition on the same level among all players of the same category, Head of Chess Federation, Ali Abbas told SANA.

He added that the Syrian players will demonstrate good levels, as they will play within the open category below 2200.
