Post: World Bank Grants $90 Million to Boost Tunisia’s Social Development

Tunis: The Board of Executive Directors of the World Bank has approved additional financing of $90 million for the Social Development Promotion Support Project in Tunisia. This funding aims to help individuals create better opportunities for themselves and enhance their pathways to sustainable livelihoods. According to Qatar News Agency, the new financing complements the initial $700 million project executed over the last five years. This initial project successfully provided emergency cash transfers to more than 895,000 households and extended permanent cash transfers under the AMEN program to over 386,000 beneficiary households. Additionally, it offered family allowances to over 150,000 children aged 0 to 5. Alexandre Arrobbio, World Bank Country Manager for Tunisia, stated, "This additional financing reflects our continued commitment to supporting Tunisia in building a social protection system that is more comprehensive, adaptive, and resilient."
