Doha: HE President of Zanzibar Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi commended Qatar’s dedication to family care, highlighting its role as a global leader in ensuring the stability and well-being of families. Dr. Mwinyi praised Qatar for establishing ministries and institutions focused on families, children, the elderly, and youth, emphasizing its belief in the importance of a cohesive family as the foundation of society.
According to Qatar News Agency, Dr. Mwinyi spoke at the International Year of the Family Conference in Doha, underscoring Qatar’s exemplary approach to family care. He noted that Qatar’s institutions, both governmental and non-governmental, set a benchmark for supporting families and ensuring their prosperity. Dr. Mwinyi pointed out that Zanzibar and other countries could learn from Qatar’s approach.
In his interview, Dr. Mwinyi discussed global challenges families face, including demographic shifts, economic pressures, and conflicts leading to displacement. He praised Qatar’s initiatives in conflict res
olution and mediation, noting their positive impact on families affected by wars. Dr. Mwinyi highlighted the significance of prioritizing family support in development programs and shared Zanzibar’s commitment to family-centered strategies within its five-year development plan.
Dr. Mwinyi expressed gratitude for attending the conference, noting the importance of discussions on family roles in society. He emphasized the historical relations between Zanzibar and Qatar, expressing optimism for enhanced cooperation across various sectors, including humanitarian efforts.
He highlighted Qatar’s impressive development progress, noting his multiple visits revealing new advancements. Dr. Mwinyi encouraged Qatari investment in Zanzibar’s tourism and spice industries, offering promising opportunities. He stressed the importance of family well-being as a fundamental societal unit, urging countries to exchange best practices and prioritize family support.
The United Nations General Assembly declared 1994 the Internatio
nal Year of the Family, recognizing families as the core societal unit deserving protection and assistance, aligning with internationally ratified charters.
