Cirebon: Authorities in Indonesia have revealed that 10 people were killed in a rockslide at a quarry in West Java province.
According to Qatar News Agency, the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) reported that at least 10 people were killed and six others injured in the rockslide, while search operations continue to find people trapped under the rubble. The agency added that the collapse occurred in Cirebon city in West Java province.
Television footage showed excavators moving massive boulders at the site and workers carrying body bags to ambulances. The agency explained that heavy equipment, including three excavators, was also buried under the rocks, adding that operations would continue until Saturday.
For his part, West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi said on his Instagram account that the site was dangerous and did not meet safety standards for workers.
