24th Amman Book Fair Opens with Notable Qatari Participation

Amman: The Amman International Book Fair 2025 kicked off Thursday under the theme "Jerusalem, the Capital of Palestine." The fair will continue until October 4, with Qatari participation, represented by the Ministry of Culture.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Qatari participation comes within the framework of Qatar's commitment to highlighting Qatar's cultural presence and introducing local intellectual and literary production to a broad Arab and international audience.

The Ministry of Culture affirmed that this participation is an extension of Qatar's presence in Arab and international cultural exhibitions and forums, through which the Ministry seeks to promote cultural exchange and openness to global experiences, contributing to building bridges of communication between creators, publishers, and those interested in cultural affairs.

Jassim Ahmed Al Buainain, Director of the Libraries Department at the Ministry of Culture and Director of the Doha International Book Fair, said that the Ministry has been keen to participate in the Amman International Book Fair for years. This reflects its unwavering commitment to strengthening cultural presence both regionally and internationally, and highlighting Qatar's rich intellectual and creative output in the fields of literature, poetry, thought, and the arts.

Al Buainain noted that the Amman International Book Fair is a distinguished event, with the participation of several entities from the State of Qatar, including the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies and the International Quran Contemplation Organization, enriching Qatar's cultural presence and reflecting its diversity and richness. He said that the Qatari pavilion allows visitors to view a variety of literary and cultural publications and gain a closer insight into the Qatari cultural scene through books, intellectual works, and artworks.

The Director of the Libraries Department at the Ministry of Culture and the Director of the Doha International Book Fair emphasized that the Ministry of Culture's participation in the Amman International Book Fair complements the state's efforts to support the global Arab cultural scene, enhance cooperation with cultural institutions and publishing houses, and present a comprehensive image of Qatar as an incubator of creativity and a center of cultural and civilizational diversity. This also aims to promote the electronic library and the Doha International Book Fair.

This year's Amman International Book Fair features participation of 400 publishing houses from 22 Arab and foreign countries. The Sultanate of Oman is the guest of honor at this year's fair, owing to its rich documentary and historical record and heritage treasures in various fields of knowledge, which have enriched Arabic content in terms of science and knowledge.

The Fair's cultural committee selected Dr. Sultan Al Maani as the cultural personality of the Fair and prepared a cultural program that includes cultural, intellectual, critical, and philosophical seminars, dialogue sessions on current issues, poetry and storytelling evenings, and a creative writing workshop, with the participation of 170 creatives from Jordan and Arab countries, in addition to a special program for children supervised by the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation.
