Jerusalem: Tens of thousands of Palestinian worshippers performed Friday prayers at Al Aqsa Mosque today, despite restrictions imposed by the Israeli occupation forces on Jerusalemites in the streets of occupied Jerusalem, around the Old City, and the mosque.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Jerusalem Islamic Endowments Department stated that approximately 40,000 Palestinian worshippers participated in the Friday prayers at Al Aqsa Mosque. The department highlighted that the strict restrictions imposed by the occupation forces on the entry of worshippers to the mosque, particularly on Fridays, did not deter thousands from gathering to pray.
The occupation authorities have been known to prevent numerous citizens from the West Bank governorates from reaching Jerusalem for prayers at Al Aqsa Mosque. Special permits are required to cross the military checkpoints surrounding the holy city, making access challenging for many.
