5.4-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Northern Sulawesi Island, Indonesia

Doha: An earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale struck Thursday an area in northern Sulawesi region in Indonesia.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) said in a statement that the earthquake was at a depth of 118 kilometers. There have been no reports of casualties, injuries, or damage resulting from the earthquake so far.

Indonesia is situated on the Pacific Ring of Fire, where the convergence of tectonic plates causes significant seismic activity.
