5-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Peru

Lima: An earthquake measuring 5 on the Richter scale struck east of Peru on Wednesday. The earthquake occurred 33 km west of Puerto Santa, north of the capital, Lima, and at a depth of 68.6 km, the US Geological Survey (USGS) reported.

According to Qatar News Agency, there have been no reports of casualties or material damage. Peru experiences an average of at least 400 earthquakes annually due to its location along the Pacific Ring of Fire.
