Arabic Book Award Hosts Seminar on Cultural Identity in Arabic Literature

Doha: The Arabic Book Award organized an intellectual seminar on the Arabic book and cultural identity, featuring participation from a select group of academics and researchers from Qatar and the Arab world, and attended by a large number of intellectuals and interested parties. This event was part of the activities accompanying the ceremony honoring the winners in the third edition of the award in Doha.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Executive Director of the Arab Book Award, Dr. Naji Al Sharif, emphasized the importance of the seminar. It aligns with the award's vision to be a global leader in honoring scientific and intellectual excellence while highlighting original intellectual contributions. The seminar also supports its mission to enrich the Arab library by encouraging individuals and institutions to present the best knowledge production in the fields of social and human sciences.

The seminar explored the issue of identity in the Arabic book through multiple epistemological, historical, and critical perspectives. It revealed the role of the book in building cultural awareness, representing the self, and understanding the relationship of the self to the other throughout the ages.
