Boat Explosion in Florida Injures 11 People

Fort Lauderdale: Eleven passengers, including two children, were injured when a boat exploded in the US state of Florida. The state Coast Guard reported that the incident occurred Monday night in Fort Lauderdale near the New River Triangle, adding that 13 people were on board at the time of the explosion.

According to Qatar News Agency, Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue spokesperson Frank Guzman said that the boat was anchored on a sandbar within the Intracoastal Waterway. As the boat operator attempted to start the engine to head back to shore, the explosion occurred suddenly, throwing the passengers into the water and engulfing the boat in flames.

He confirmed that investigations are underway by the Fire Marshal Office to determine the possible causes of the incident.
