Munich: Reigning champions Bayern Munich strengthened their hold on the top of the German Bundesliga table after securing their sixth consecutive victory by defeating Eintracht Frankfurt on the road today in the sixth round of the competition. They took full advantage of draws by their closest rivals Borussia Dortmund and Leipzig.
According to Qatar News Agency, in the opening match, Bayern Munich emerged victorious with a 3-0 win against hosts Eintracht Frankfurt, earning valuable three points. Bayern's win was largely thanks to Colombian player Luis Diaz, who scored the first and third goals in the 1st and 84th minutes, bringing his season tally to five goals. Diaz also assisted his English teammate Harry Kane's goal in the 27th minute. Kane extended his lead as the Bundesliga's top scorer with 11 goals.
Bayern Munich now leads the table with 18 points, four points ahead of second-place Borussia Dortmund, who have 14 points, and five points clear of Leipzig, sitting third with 13 points. Bayern has the opportunity to further widen their lead when they host Borussia Dortmund in the highly anticipated "Der Klassiker" at the Allianz Arena in Munich on October 18.
