Miami: German club Bayern Munich has qualified for the Round of 16 in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, currently taking place in the United States, after defeating Argentina's Boca Juniors 2-1 today in Group C action. Harry Kane opened the scoring for Bayern Munich in the 18th minute, but Miguel Merentiel equalized for Boca Juniors in the 66th minute. The winning goal came in the 84th minute through Frenchman Michael Olise. According to Qatar News Agency, Bayern Munich tops Group C with 6 points from two consecutive wins, following their dominant 10-0 triumph over Auckland City of New Zealand in the opening round. They now lead the group by two points over Portugal's Benfica, their closest contender. This result marks the first win by a European team over a South American club in the current edition of the tournament.
