Gaza City: Doctors Without Borders (MSF) expressed its relief about the temporary ceasefire agreement in Gaza and called for the immediate end of the blockade of Gaza.
According to Qatar News Agency, MSF emphasized the urgent need for a massive scale-up of humanitarian aid into and across Gaza to meet the needs of the population affected by the ongoing conflict. The organization highlighted that hospital rooms have been overwhelmed with patients suffering from severe injuries, including severed limbs, for over 15 months. Many people have been desperately searching for the bodies of their family members.
Doctors Without Borders further reported that health facilities and medical staff have been targeted, resulting in the deaths of eight MSF colleagues. The organization also raised concerns about the increasing number of arbitrary detentions from Gaza and the West Bank. Despite these challenges, MSF remains dedicated to providing care in Gaza. The humanitarian needs have reached catastrophic levels, and addressing even a fraction of these needs will require a swift and extensive increase in global humanitarian aid within the Strip.
MSF urged Israeli authorities to expedite the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza, facilitate medical evacuations, and ensure access to the north, which has been under siege since October 2024.
