Doha: An earthquake of 5.8 magnitude on the Richter scale struck eastern Tajikistan on Sunday. The epicenter of the earthquake was located 25 km from Rasht area, at a depth of 12.6 km, the US Geological Survey (USGS) reported.
According to Qatar News Agency, there have been no reports of casualties or material damage due to the earthquake. Tajikistan experiences numerous earthquakes and landslides, the most notable of which was the earthquake that struck the mountainous Badakhshan region in January 2010, displacing approximately 20,000 people.
