Doha: European stocks recorded gains during Monday's trading, supported by strong advances in healthcare sector shares. The STOXX 600 index rose by 0.26 percent, reaching 551.56 points, after suffering its first weekly loss in four weeks on Friday.
According to Qatar News Agency, the healthcare sector stood out among the top gainers. Shares of Novo Nordisk climbed 3.1 percent, as the company continued reinforcing its position as one of the largest firms in the sector on the index. Meanwhile, defense sector stocks also saw notable gains, rising by 1.2 percent, driven by a 2 percent increase in shares of the British firm BAE Systems.
