European Stocks Suffer as Geopolitical Tensions Rise

Doha: European stock markets opened lower on Thursday following a more hawkish-than-expected speech by US President Donald Trump, which dampened market hopes for a swift end to the war in the Middle East.

According to Qatar News Agency, the pan-European STOXX Europe 600 fell by 0.2% at the start of trading, amid geopolitical pressures on markets. This decline reflects growing investor concerns over the potential for prolonged geopolitical instability in the region.

Among major markets, France’s CAC 40 in the Paris Stock Exchange dropped by 1.30%, while Germany’s DAX in Frankfurt declined by 1.57%. The downturn was further mirrored in the United Kingdom, where the FTSE 100 fell by 0.68%, and in Italy, where the FTSE MIB in the Borsa Italiana dropped by 1.47%.
