Doha: Fire Station, in partnership with Qatar Creates Talks, is set to host "Creative Infrastructures: Spaces for Experimentation", a public panel discussion considering how creative development programmes can support artists, designers and other practitioners as they build sustainable creative careers in Qatar.
According to Qatar News Agency, the event, scheduled for Tuesday at the Fire Station Auditorium, will explore the role of creative development programmes in supporting artists and designers. The discussion will delve beyond the production of finished work, focusing on providing mentorship, peer learning, and creating opportunities for research, experimentation, and collaboration across disciplines.
This talk is part of Qatar Museums' Fall/Winter 2026 season, featuring a programme of exhibitions, talks, and cultural events across its museums and creative hubs. Rose Lejeune, Head of Academic and Community Programmes at Fire Station, emphasized the importance of understanding the needs of artists and creatives, stating: "While Artists Intensive Study Programme (AISP) is the starting point for this conversation, the bigger question is what artists and creatives actually need around them to experiment and grow."
The panel will include Dr. Elina Sairanen, Museologist at Katara Art Centre; Marrackech Elizabeth Arbuckle, Acting Head of Public Programmes Section at M7; and Maryam Al Homaid, Artist and Associate Professor at VCUarts Qatar. Rose Lejeune will moderate the discussion, which will consider the broader significance of creative development initiatives within Qatar's evolving cultural landscape.
The panel aims to address how continued investment in people, knowledge, and creative exchange can contribute to a more connected, resilient, and sustainable cultural ecosystem. It will also explore how these efforts can create stronger opportunities for artists and practitioners to develop their work over the long term.
