Football: Marseille Sign Weah from Juventus

Marseille: French club Olympique de Marseille announced today that it has signed American striker Timothy Weah on a one-season loan from Italian club Juventus. In a statement on its official website, the club said that Weah has joined on a one-year loan deal that includes an option to make the move permanent for $16 million after the loan period ends.

According to Qatar News Agency, Weah, 25, began his football career with Paris Saint-Germain at the age of 14 and signed his first professional contract with the club in 2017. He later played for Celtic, Lille, and Juventus. He has earned 44 international caps with the US national team, including appearances in every match during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

Notably, Timothy is the son of Liberian football legend George Weah, who won the FIFA World Player of the Year award in 1995. However, Timothy chose to represent the United States, where he was born in 2000.
