Indian Authorities: 241 Passengers Killed in Plane Crash, One Survivor Found

Doha: Indian authorities announced that the final death toll from the Air India plane that crashed Thursday is 241 passengers, with one survivor.

According to Qatar News Agency, the authorities reported that the plane, which was bound for London, with 242 passengers and crew on board, crashed into a residential area in the western Indian city of Ahmedabad, killing 241 passengers and 19 others in the apartment building where the plane crashed.

The Indian Civil Aviation Authority said that 242 people were on board, including two pilots and 10 crew members.

Air India stated that the passenger list included 169 Indian passengers, 53 Britons, seven Portuguese, and one Canadian on the flight to London's Gatwick Airport.

The Indian authorities announced earlier Thursday that the plane crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad Airport in western India, en route to London.

An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances and causes of the accident.
