Iraqi Prime Minister, NATO Secretary General Discuss Region’s Developments

Doha: Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al Sudani discussed Wednesday with visiting NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, cooperation relations between the two sides in topics related to capacity building and support for the Iraqi armed forces in areas of advice and training. The meeting also discussed developments in the region, the situation in Gaza and Lebanon, and the latest developments in Syria.

According to Qatar News Agency, Al Sudani said in a statement that Iraq views with interest the role of the NATO advisory mission and cooperation in the field of training, planning, and exchange of expertise.

For his part, Mark Rutte stressed NATO's keenness to enhance cooperation with Iraq, especially in the field of military industries.
