Ankara: An earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale struck the Aegean Sea in western Turkiye on Wednesday.
According to Qatar News Agency, a statement by the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) reported that the 4.5-magnitude earthquake occurred at a depth of 7 km. This event follows two earthquakes measuring 4.7 magnitude on the Richter scale that hit the Aegean Sea just yesterday.
Turkiye, which lies on one of the world's major earthquake fault lines, experienced a devastating earthquake on February 6, 2023. This catastrophic event killed more than 50,000 people, caused significant damage to infrastructure, and left thousands injured.
