Jordanian King Advocates for Stability and Peace in Palestinian Territories

Amman: King Abdullah II of Jordan stressed the need to achieve a just and comprehensive peace on the basis of a two-state solution, leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the lines of the Fourth of June 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital. During his meeting today with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, King Abdullah reaffirmed Jordan's full support for the Palestinians in achieving their legitimate rights.

According to Qatar News Agency, King Abdullah called for an end to settlement measures and rejected any attempts to annex territories and displace Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, highlighting the need to stabilize Palestinians on their land. He emphasized Jordan's close coordination with regional partners and allies to address issues in the region and achieve a comprehensive calm.

King Abdullah reiterated the importance of sustaining the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and urged the intensification of international efforts to increase humanitarian assistance and ensure its access throughout the Strip. He called on the international community to play a more active role in stopping the escalation in the West Bank and the attacks on Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
