Japan: Japan's real wages increased by 1.4% in May compared to the previous year, continuing a growth trend for the fifth consecutive month. This marks the longest period of sustained wage growth since a seven-month streak in 2021, as revealed by government data released on Tuesday. The rise in real wages is attributed to the results of robust annual wage negotiations.
According to Qatar News Agency, nominal wages, which include base pay and overtime, saw a 3.2% rise from the previous year, reaching 311,165 yen per worker, approximately $1,900. This marks the fourth consecutive month that nominal wage growth has exceeded 3%, a milestone not seen in over 34 years, as reported by Japan's Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare.
