Amman: The joint statement issued at the conclusion of the first Jordan-EU Summit, held in Amman, confirmed the decision to launch the first EU-Jordan Dialogue Forum on Security and Defense in Amman in early 2026.
According to Qatar News Agency, the statement highlighted the importance of strengthening European support for the Jordanian Armed Forces within the framework of the European Peace Facility and the mechanism for engagement with Jordan, in accordance with the EU's Common Security and Defence Policy.
The statement emphasized the continuation of joint efforts in security cooperation, border management, and combating organized crime and all forms of smuggling and illicit trafficking. This includes enhanced cooperation with EU agencies, the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Training (EUNIC), the European Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation (EALC), and the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex).
It also affirmed the commitment to combating terrorism and countering extremism and violent extremism, including the Global Coalition against ISIS, the Global Counterterrorism Forum, and the Aqaba Process on Countering Terrorism and Violent Extremism.
Jordan's King Abdullah II held the first Jordan-EU summit in Amman on Thursday with European Council (EC) President Antonio Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
