Manama, The King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence (KHGC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Higher Committee for Human Fraternity (HCHF).

The MoU aims to enhance cooperation and exchange expertise in promoting the values of peaceful coexistence among religions, cultures, and civilisations, as well as combating extremism and hatred. Under the MoU, academic and training programmes will be conducted, and joint local, regional, and international events and activities will be organised.

Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Chairman of the KHGC Board of Trustees, expressed his pride in signing the MoU with the Secretary General of the HCHF, Ambassador Dr. Khalid Ghanim Al Ghaith. He noted that this agreement aligns with the Kingdom’s commitment to strengthening its historical, solid, and comprehensive partnership with the United Arab Emirates, as well as its dedication to coordinating with regional and international institutions to promote a culture of peace and religious and
cultural dialogue, for a more secure, peaceful, and prosperous world.

Dr. Shaikh Abdulla added that this MoU is part of the centre’s initiatives stemming from the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, which seeks to consolidate the values and principles of the “Declaration of the Kingdom of Bahrain” in fostering peaceful coexistence and religious freedoms. The MoU also aligns with the objectives of the ‘Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together’, signed by His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al Azhar, Ahmad Al Tayyib, and His Holiness Pope Francis in Abu Dhabi.

The Chairman expressed appreciation for the initiatives of the HCHF, including the presentation of the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity, the endorsement of the International Day of Human Fraternity, and the empowerment of women and youth.

Ambassador Dr. Khalid Al Ghaith, in turn, expressed his appreciation for the collaboration with the KHGC and his aspiration to enhance joint efforts and the exchange of expertise in
education, training, media, and the development of academic capacities in promoting the values of fraternity and human solidarity.

The Ambassador praised the Centre’s efforts and initiatives in promoting a culture of peaceful coexistence, acceptance, respect for religious and cultural diversity, and the rejection of racism and hatred.
