Lebanese Army Warns Israeli Attacks Impede State Authority Extension

Beirut: The Lebanese army has issued a warning regarding the continuation of Israeli attacks on Lebanese territory, highlighting that such actions, along with the occupation of several areas and the establishment of restrictive buffer zones, are hindering the extension of state authority. These activities, coupled with ongoing daily violations of the ceasefire agreement established on November 27, 2024, are negatively impacting the army's ability to complete necessary tasks, particularly in the vicinity of these contested areas.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Lebanese army emphasized the urgent need for the state to extend its authority and ensure that all weapons are confined to its armed forces without exception. The army pointed out that the delayed arrival of promised military capabilities is significantly slowing down the implementation of its missions.

In a statement released by the Lebanese National News Agency on Thursday, the army stressed the importance of addressing these challenges with urgency and seriousness, as they are critical for enabling the army to carry out its duties in a responsible, gradual, and coordinated manner. This approach aligns with the national interest and is essential for maintaining sovereignty and stability.

Furthermore, the army reaffirmed its ongoing collaboration with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) and the ceasefire monitoring mechanism to enhance stability in the southern Litani region. The statement underscored the army's commitment to maintaining security and stability across Lebanon, particularly south of the Litani River, as stipulated by the Lebanese Constitution and relevant laws and international resolutions.

The Lebanese army's declaration reflects its dedication to ensuring the return of security and stability to the southern borders, preventing their use for military operations, and implementing the state's decision to exercise authority exclusively through its own forces across all Lebanese territories.
