Doha: Lebanese President, General Joseph Aoun, on Wednesday called on Prime Minister-designate, Nawaf Salam, to form the government as soon as possible. In a statement, President Aoun confirmed the ongoing consultations with the Prime Minister-designate, stressed the urgent need to form a government that adheres to agreed principles and standards, and hoped to approach the final stages of this process.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Lebanese president said that Lebanon has numerous opportunities ahead of it, with many countries ready to offer assistance, contingent on government formation. Aoun added that Lebanon's recovery is not solely the responsibility of the president or the prime minister, rather it should be shared by all.
He expressed hope that most of the challenges to government formation had been resolved and underscored the importance of justice and dignity for all Lebanese citizens.
